I worked at Metal Closuresin the office not long before I moved to Australia during late 1972/early 73 and I had never heard of this before. The opnly excitement I recall is that a young woman gave birth to her baby on the factory floor one day - now THAT was interesting. I drove past the old place in September and it looks very tired and forgotten. All new employees, ain early days had to have a medical examination done at the premises as part of the interview process and there were always medically trained staff on hand. | |

You may have known my late Uncle, Ron Carpenter. I think he was Head Buyer. Can't recall exactly when he started work there but you may have overlapped.

Yes it was. In one shot towards the end, you can clearly see the canal bridge looking towards Oldbury. Earlier on can be seen Bromford Iron & Steel across the road.

Sorry Stephen but your Uncle's name rang no bells - the only person I can say for sure I remember is Eileen Beer as I worked side by side with her. So long ago now.

One of our old bosses at Guests Chris Greatbach`s Dad was something high up at Metal Closures ( Accountant ) ?
Could have been named Gordon ???????????
We used to collect cars from there & always got deafened by Bottle Top`s rattling along the line through plastic tubes if I remember right if we had to go in the factory area, everyone had Ear plugs in that worked there.
Always remember the showcase in the reception as well with HP Sauce, Whiskey bottles etc in it showing who they supplied.
