There will be no Babbies born in West Bromwich after this year

After a 'HUGE' consultation with the public of Sandwell there was an 'overwhelming' support to SHUT the Maternity unit in Sandwell for it all to move to Dudley Rd (City) Hospital for a few years and then to Smethwick

'overwhelming' support....YEAH, RIGHT OH !

They didn't ask me, my Mrs, ANY of our relatives, no one from our kids schools, no one....Probably because the Question & Answer wasn't done in West Bromwich it was done in Smethwick and Bearwood !

Talk about spin !

So, if you was born in West Bromwich you are now a rare breed as you are now one of the last people in centuarys who will have "PLACE OF BIRTH....WEST BROMWICH" on your Birth Certificate

Something else we have lost

This is the best yet !

What the hell is going on ?

It seems to me that some group is hell bent on wiping West Bromwich off the face of the earth

Out the light when the last one leaves

If officialdom ever claims that there is overwhelming support, you know damn well they are lying.  Do they honstly believe that any member of the public is going to say "Oh yes, good idea, definitely close it".  It is just a bizarre notion.  Why do these people always assume that we are all as stupid as they are?

I think the world has always been mad, we just don't realise until we get older..

as someone once said "there are people who make things happen, people who watch things happen, and people who wonder what's happened !"

When we are old enough to make things happen ,      it's too late.....

such is life.

We all know about people who quote surveys you can tell when they tell lies, its when they open their mouths. But this is not new the people in power started the demise of wst bromwich when they invented sandwell but on the good side with the current state of our old town who would want to be born here.It is said that west brom is a good place to come from

When I was just a little boy

I asked me father were did I come from

Here’s what he said to me

Yam from Bramwich me son

Yam Bramwich born and bred

Do yo eva forget me son

Yam from West Brom

The Jesson, The Marl hole, Wasson,

Areas I remember but my kids sadly will not

From Carters green to Dartmouth square

Along The golden mile

The town hall, the library, the Louvre, Arcade and Christ church

All gone

Distant memories all of happier times

The golden cup, the Gas works even the Swan pub

The Gala baths the picture houses Kings & Queens

The Minors on Carters green

The Clock Restaurant

All given away

In the name of progress

They say

As I get older and West Brom is forgot

All I can say is

Sorry old dad I really ain’t forgot

It’s just that I can’t show my kids

There ain’t anything left you see

The Council’s sold it all off

Hi John nice one ,

I would add one thought though  rather than sold it all I believe they have  chucked it all away and calling everything Sandwell was a large part of it.

Im loath to visit Heath lane cemetary now cus the sound of  "bromwich born and bred" people turning in there graves upsets me.

When we decided to move away from West Brom' a few years ago we went to the Pink Palace in Oldbury (another waste of money) and told  them to cancel our community charge etc'.

We were asked  " why am yow gooin? "................................ I resisted the urge to tell them the truth!!

West Bromwich was such a wonderful place, but it makes me so sad when I return and see what is being done to it...

I am still very proud to have been born in the black country, and really enjoy telling people 'down here' about where I grew up, but when they ask "why did you move?".................................... I resist the urge to tell them the truth..:(

Can we now have some happy news about West Brom'

Please.....:D:D

Tragic that such a decision has been made but I do like the idea of being rare! Lol Many bad decisions seem to be made in the name of progress, we have lost so many fine building in the time I have lived here.

I just can't believe it, what the hell is happening there ?

All of this started to go downhill when the loony Borough Council changed it to Sandwell

The subways have gone,

Half the pavement taken away for a bus stop outside the old church gates,

Pavement taken away for three lanes of traffic in parsonage street.

Bus lane removed from outside the entrance to churchfields high school. Does this mean we are going to loose the Ring of Bells Pound?

You can't loose that pound, it's worldwide know that the ring 'o Bells was the  place where you could buy a pint by the pound !

Saying that, I am sure it used to be further away from where it is now, did they move it further UP the road ?

Also, when I went back a few years ago I stood there looking at the Pound and I had something at the back of my mind telling me there was another pub further down the road, not that newish coach in hand that was there, something between the 2 pubs or am I dreaming ?
