They just can't be allowed to build on the Jesson, they just can't ! All of the spare grounds that are around West Brom, grounds which have been left to look like a dump should be used I bet that councilor who was behind that pink blob is behind this Jesson thing That man should be run out of the Town

I only go back to spend a bit of time with my family, if they wasn't there then I wouldn't go back
I have just read about the Jesson, great news and about time the West Bromwich people stood up and spoke, as it was said, enough is enough Well done to all who shouted !

We have just heard that we have a family wedding back in West Brom next year and even though I said we would never go back again I have that "calling" so we might, just might, go back to have a look at the old place and visit a few old haunts, well those that are still there ! I might take in a few of the Baggies games also so I better start saving, I dread to think how much it will cost for us all to go to a match ! I remember when it was about 10 bob ! Is the Cross pub still open and the Jinglers ?

I paid a visit to West Bromwich yesterday and took the opportunity to take a few more photographs, mostly, of areas that are being, or about to be, demolished. Each time I visit the town there appears to be less of it, replaced by increasing swathes of rubble, the majority of which, as far as I can ascertain, belong to Tesco. I spoke to a number of demolition contractors at various locations, all of whom told me that this or that piece of land was owned by the supermarket chain. I really think the town should be renamed' West Tescwich' or similar! I have no doubt that the Council has sold off large tracts of land because they have no money, in the same manner as they got rid of several secondary schools to the private sector, thus releaving themselves of the financial responsibility. The reason they have no money is, in no small part, due to the millions that have been spent on that huge 'white elephant - 'The Pubic' (otherwise known as 'The Public') which cost Sandwell residents one 'L' of a lot of money and architecturally resembles a large filing cabinet that has been knocked over and had several holes kicked into its side. Whilst there is nothing wrong in principle with having an Arts Centre, it most certainly is not among the leading priorities facing the town. Looking at it in juxtaposition to the flattened land in the foreground, I am reminded of photographs of Hiroshima with everything flattened, bar that one solitary building with the skeletal dome. Perhaps West Bromwich should consider being twinned with Hiroshima. Latest depressing images are on my flickr site.

I went to West Brom today to the signing of Terry Prices new book and to get a copy. While there I spent acouple of hours looking round the old place,Kings square, the market the high st, Queens square and the area of demolition to be Tesco city. I also came away bleary eyed. Seeing the pubic was bad enough but who on earth dreamt up the wet marble and stainless seats to sit on outside it. On a lighter note the new Price book covers a lot of forum questions, the gas works siding tracks, the tram lines in St Michaels st, a good photo of Hall and Rices, and proof that the Cross Guns pub { the marksman} has claim to the oldest West Brom pub. All in all another good one from Terry. regards john mason
