No NZ, the ring o bells was gone before the four in hand was built, I am sure ? Where the ring o bells was if you go down towards west brom, on the same side about 100 yards you have got Parsonage St on your left (Which leads onto Vale St), as you go past Parsonage St the Four In Hand was directly on the corner They knocked it down and build McDonalds really, really fast, in a matter of days !
I think it was houses years ago NZ

The 'Four'! used to be my local haunt almost every night in the mid to late 70's. Jam packed most nights and even the front wall got full up in the summer....we used to go for a swim down wasson pool then walk up to the Four. I remember some guy with one of those orange Bond bugs used to frequent the place at that time

I remember him too! I used to go there between 76-79, still lookig for some photos tho, remeber the straw roof over the bar? I also have a 'Breaker' sign, which the landlord gave me, made of plastic, don't see breaker lager around now, there again, if I remember right, it never tasted that good.

what about when the Four got refurbished & went from 'country cottage' with the straw roof over the bar to to futuristic lounge bar with jazzy upholstery, chrome & mirrors. It was always chocca though. Great times in there.

I played against the 'Four' a few times whilst Bryan was manager.I remember 5 or 6 of the players unlike the rest of us from the pubs and clubs of West Bromwich,Tipton and Wednesbury with our half-time fags and beer bellies, were semi pro's who played for teams like Dudley Town,Stourbridge and Lye Town(one or two had been on the books of league teams) on saturdays and only played because it was Robson. After Bryan left in 81 for ManU,I can't remember if the team packed it in.As for the pub itself I only ever went once and it was packed out, Robson was in there with Len Cantello.Couldn't get to the bar so didn't bother.

Blimey, I'd forgotten all about that straw stuff, it was dusty as hell! The Four always used to have a decent juke box as well, Freebird, Wayward Son and Funky Music were just a few of the ones that got endless repeat plays! Oddly I saw a 'Breaker' can last weekend by the canal near Oxley, Wolverhampton and remarked to my wife that I hadn't seen one of those for years! Paul

yes, i remember the re fit, mirrors on angles instead of the straw roof, if you stood under it just right, and look up, pervies paradise! flashing lights everywhere, they spoilt a good pub! Paul

My mate Paul Pester was always in there, he played in the football team that Robson managed, there is a photo knocking about somewhere were they are outside the entrance to the pub.

When 'This is Your Life' had Bryan Robson on in 1985 .A couple of the players appeared on the programme, one of them was a lad from Yew Tree named Steve Shaw who I knew quite well.I was at Churchfields with him and had played with and against many times.
