Many apologies for what probably seems a most unusual request for information and memories.

I am seeking any information about Alan Eccles and his Hilltop garage. Although he lived in Kingswinford, Alan ran the Hilltop Garage in West Bromwich during the 1950/60's.

The reason for this information plea is that I own a car which was delivered new to Alan in 1959. It is a grey Jaguar XK150 with the very distinctive registration number of AE 34. The car was supplied by Ashmores garage, which was also in West Bromwich at that time. I believe that Ashmores was owned by Alans friend Gerry Ashmore, who was also a  fellow motor race driver.

Many many thanks in advance if anyone can help with any information whatsoever.

I could be wrong but wasn't there an engineering frim at the back of Hill Top Park (behind the playing fields) which was owned by Mr Eccles and I think called Eccles Engineering.

I seem to remember that one of the bosses there had a car with the registration AE60 and it may have been on a Jensen perhaps it was the same gentlman who owned the garage on Hill Top.

Hi Paul, Gill has probably given you all the info. you need.   My father Charlie Mogg worked part -  time for Alan Eccles and I used to help on the forecourts of the petrol station. I was about 9 or 10. I well remember having the odd ride in the american buicks etc. that was run as taxi's. I also remember Roger?  we played in the lovely orchard at the back.  His daughter rode horses.  He seemed a flamboyant character and stood in the local elections as a conservative.

Albert.

Thankyou for the reply and additional information.

Actually I have not, as yet, been able to contact Mrs Eccles - I do hope that the above is the correct email address.
