On Yates' 1775 map (and a couple of later ones ) there's a 'dungeon' at Hateley Heath ('Hakeley Heath' according to Yates) roughly where Menzies school is today. Does anyone know anything about this?

Sorry, on the Yates' map it's "Heakley Heath" not "Hakeley".

That has puzzled me for years, I have got the area down to approx where Millfields pub is but otherwise I'm still in the dark, Could it be something to do with the Manor House it ain't far away

I have asked people involved with the Manor House if there is a connection here.

I know there was mention of some tunnels coming from the Manor House and the Millfields is only just down the road

There was dungeons there hundreds of years ago and I am sure where the Milfields pub is now there used to hold court there ?

I don't think the dungeons had anything to do with the Manor House, I may be wrong ?

Didn't the stocks used to be there also ?
