A few new photos have been addes to the Home page including a great shot of the Jesson....do you recognise anyone ?

Mike fenton needs to hear from anyone who remembers or give him some info for the Grafton Rd Stores photos.

The shop was owned by his Grandparents, Joseph Seymour and his wife Annie (nee Robins)

There appears to have been a lot of activity centred around the store and any anecdotes relating to it and more specifically its owners, Joseph & Annie Seymour would be very welcome.

Does anyone know when the store opened? Joseph's father William Arthur Seymour did marry an Emily Martha Brown in 1886 and her profession in an early Census is listed as a shop owner. Could this have been passed down in the family? William Arthur Seymour is a bit of a family enigma as he is listed as being born in Newfoundland around 1864 and eventually dieing in Leeds Infirmary in 1916 as a result of war wounds. There is no birth record in this country.

The Hill Top Girls School photos needs some of the girls identyfing, can you help ?

Many thanks for the great donated photos

Paul

The expressway photo looks, to me, as if it was taken from Carters green as the gas tank was on the right of the e-way. the houses look like the ones near the top of Billhay st proir to demolition. Regards J.E.M.

Regards to the " Is this by the Old Church ??" photo.

This looks like Reform Street by the entrance to Dartmouth Park / toilets.
