Thanks Barbara, you have jogged my memory, I think that there were two entrances. One side of the shop sold clothes and bed linen, and if I am right the other entrance was mainly mens shoes and leather goods.

When I worked their most of my customers were in Handsworth, it was my  job to collect the weekly payments on a Friday and Saturday. It was not  a very nice area and I never felt safe carrying a lot of money.

Thanks again for your reply.

My Brother in law worked at Pawsons in the early to mid sixties - not sure if you knew him his name was Derek Jackson and he lived in Golds Hill at the post office.

Pawsons was on the corner of Tyndal st with an entrance in that street that led into the mens clothes area then an L shaped area for ladies apparel  then house hold goods and out the other door onto Old Meeting street. One thing I am certain of there where a couple of  bostin girls employed there,

Hello Ian, I can't remember your brother, did he work in the shop or the office.? I can't remember the names of many office and shop staff as I was out on the road every day mainly in Handsworth.

Thanks Alan

Hi J.E.M, Can't remember the girls, but you are right about the L shaped area, I was sure there were two entrances. The office was in Tyndal St opposite the mens clothes area.

Thanks

Alan
