I attended St Michaels school from 1945 to august 1949, so probably left before you arrived. Miss Mathews was the head mistress and Miss Carter was the entry class mistress but I believe most of us that went on to Grammar schools ect. owe it all to the other teacher Miss Palmer. She was probably the best teacher I ever had in all my school years.  Having said that the thing I remember most about St Michaels  was being caned by the Priest on Monday morning for not attending church the day before he was aptly named Father Kane. Though  having said that education wise it was excellent.

The origiinal  school and play ground was situated at the resr  of the church and had   a large building divided into three classrooms by folding partitions.it reached almost to the billiard hall.
