I don't think there was an Old Bush Inn on Lloyd Street ?? The only Old Bush Inn I knew was in Greets Green which later became Darbys and that was on the corner of Claypit Lane & Wood Lane, I wouldn't have thought that there would have been 2 Old Bush Inns, I may be wrong ? Theres a chap on here who is pretty hot on West Brom pubs, Jim or John (?) he will put you right What year are we talking here Nicky ?

This has got me thinking Now, if you stand outside the Crown & Cussion, right outside the doors on the corner of the building and look across to your right, on the opposite side a bit further up the road I am sure there was a pub there that was turned into a restaurant before i left or am I dreaming ? That would be segar St though wouldn't it and there was a globe pub further up the road on the left in Reform st, is that still there ?

There was definately an old bush inn on Lloyd street as i've checked the 1971 census. My dad was born in 1951 so he lived there around that time so say 1951-1953 then moved to Hampstead. No its definatly not the globe pub as that is still there. Also is the crown and cushion and i do believe it was a little further down Lloyd street x

There is clearly a pub shown on the 1902 Map a few houses down LLoyd St on the Park side of the road. I was not sure of the name but i do remember my mom mentioning it as she lived in LLoyd Street for several years in the 40's with the rest of her family. She mentioned her father on a rare occasion when they had money sending for a jug of beer. There is a photo in 'West Bromwich in old postcards' Page 46 which shows LLoyd St from the Crown and Cushion but can't see far enough down. Try West Bromwich Trade Directories may have advertised or the lady at the Park Lodge she has been there quite a long time I understand.

The Only other pub listed in Segar Street appart from the Crown and Cushion was also in Segar Street was called the Hare and Hounds. Nothing else in the road. A lot of pubs in West Bromwich went under local names rather than the official name ie The Jinglers or The Ramp a Tampa or Charlie Lampers. Maybe your Father knew of it by it's pseudonym rather than the official name. It could also be that The Crown and Cushion had been previously called The Bush. There is no evidence of any other pubs in the area. The next one heading towards the town was The Globe in Reform Street.

There was a pub on the other side of the road, a bit further down towards Dagger lane, it's where the Park Roses are now and you used to be able to go through to the Park before they fenced it, but I am sure the pub went years ago, well before the 1940s? As for the Old Bush Inn, thats a new one on me, I knew the one that went to Darbys but not no other ? Paul

Hi I am looking to find any information about my grandad who lived in Lloyd Street. He was born in 1912 and wondered if anyone knows of the Brierley family that lived in Lloyd Street from that time. I would also love to see any old pictures of Lloyd Street as the house he lived in was demolished many years ago (although no idea when) Many thanks Darren

The picture in 'old west bromwich' (see answer above by me) shows some of Lloyd street ,although not much, the houses were apparently mainly 'courts'
