can anyone remember how many pubs there used to be in spon lane.

I think that there is only the flower pot left.  I can name about 10 but im sure that my dad said there was about 20 something at one time.

My Dad came from George Street, Smethwick so i can remember the spon croft at that end.

I know that it was always said there was one on every corner.  Don't know if that is true or not.

Many thanks to Derek Westwood and Malc Groom for the following...Here goes....

The Dartmouth, Bulls head, Cottage spring, Steam Packet, The Bridge, The New Bell, The old Bell, The Anchor, The Brewers Arms, The Flower Pot, Waggon and Horses, The Highland Tavern, Shoulder of Mutton, Stour Valley, Greyhound, White Swan, George Inn, North Western, Cape Hotel, Royal Oak, Spon Lane Tavern, Spon Croft. (The Spon Croft was originally on the opposite side of the road). There was also the Sponwell Brewery, roughly opposite The Anchor.
