i have heard some stories of why it is called the jinglers, but they all differ greatly so I would like to know if anyone really does know why it is nicknamed the jinglers? | |

Apparently one of the old landlords at the pub did not have a till so when someone brought a drink he would put the coins in his apron which had a large pocket at the front, but he had an annoying habit of putting his hands in and jingling the coins hence the local name jingler’s | |

i'm 83,i was told by my elders that the landlord used to stand in the pub doorway jingling the coins in his pocket,i guess either explanation is logical. | |

Jingler was my step grandfather my father told me that jingler was a man who liked a bet and there was an illegal bookie near the Five Ways one day he backed a race horse called jingling goergie and won a lot of money hence old jingler. He used to keep pigs at the back of the pub the original pub was about 30 yards from where the pub now stands | |
